There are also more video production employees working in Australia than there were at the end of the second quarter of 2018.
While the video industry has witnessed a boom in recent years, the employment numbers are a stark reminder of the challenges faced by video production workers across the nation.
In December 2017, a group of Australian video and audio production companies went into voluntary liquidation after nearly two decades of operation.
The company, Digital Media Group, had recorded over $300 million in revenue in Australia over the past decade and employed more than 30,000 workers.
The liquidation was announced following the collapse of the Australian Video Entertainment Group, which had been in operation since the early 1990s.
At the time, Digital Group was working to help the video and film industry recover from the economic downturn, but the collapse was also seen as a setback for the video sector as it had seen its own business model crash.
At that time, many of the jobs were in the entertainment and film industries, including the production of TV shows and films.
The ABC contacted Amazon Video for comment.
