What we learned from watching the Bournemouth game on BT Sport 1

Here are some things we learned after watching the first half of Bournie’s Premier League match with Norwich.1.

Norwich did not dominate the first 20 minutes.

Norwich’s opening goal came from the penalty spot after a quick counterattack from the hosts, with Christian Benteke setting up Bente’s opener.

The home side were then able to press hard and create an opening, but the Norwich midfield were never tested.2.

Norwich were better than the visitors.

Norwich created a lot of chances, which is what you want from your opponent in a Premier League game.

They made sure they had the ball, they created chances, they were dangerous.3.

Norwich dominated possession.

They had a clear cut first half, and that was the only issue for Norwich.

They created a number of chances.4.

Norwich’s keeper, Martin O’Neill, played well.

He kept his cool and stayed calm under pressure.

He didn’t allow a Norwich player to get the better of him.5.

Norwich looked comfortable on the ball.

Norwich got the better shape, the ball came in quicker, and the team was quicker to get back to defence.6.

Norwich had chances to score.

The first goal was a very good header from Christian Bento, and Norwich did well to get it back.

The second goal came through the heart of the Norwich defence.

Norwich also had chances for the hosts.7.

Norwich made it hard for Norwich to get into their shape.

Norwich played with their back to goal, they had to be a little more patient and creative with the ball and keep possession.8.

Norwich defended well.

The back four of Jack Rodwell, Dominic Solanke and Alex Pritchard defended well, the midfield of Alex Pearce and Martin Kelly played well, and there were a number opportunities to score as well.9.

Norwich deserved the goal.

They should have been able to get past the Norwich goal but they did not, and this was a disappointing performance.10.

Norwich have to do better in their defensive phase.

It was a poor defensive display from Norwich.

Norwich started the match on the back foot and kept their composure.

Norwich failed to do the same in the second half and had the chance to go on the attack.11.

Norwich need to work on their defensive game.

Norwich should be more aggressive in their build up play and they were guilty of making too many mistakes in their defending.

Norwich needs to work hard to get their defence back to a good level.12.
